Disability recruiting and placement differs from other forms of placement because it is unfamiliar territory for most employers. The challenge is to change preconceived attitudes and perceptions by educating employers before they consider offering positions to disabled persons. To achieve this, disability sensitisation programs (when required) for the employers, line managers and potential colleagues is essential, this way everyone is set up for success. The first step many organisations take, wrongly, is to identify a post that can be filled by a disabled person (or create a new one). This is a condescending approach and in most cases is headed for failure. If you are unemployed and have a disability register with us and become a member now - Membership is Free.

.It must be realised that treating people the same way can lead to inequity. People should be treated differently to put them on a par with others – in this way everyone has the same chances. This applies to all people, not only the disabled, yet is only practiced on the non-disabled in most instances. The first step is to acknowledge that disabled people are different and then to try and understand those differences before identifying positions that can be filled. The core to the challenges of Disability Recruitment and Management is education - education of employers, employees and the disabled recruit. In all activities associated with permanent appointments Reakgona performs the role of specialist service provider in the niche area of integrating people with disabilities into the workplace in support of organizations equity plans.
