Myths and misconceptions about disability are common. These incorrect assumptions are often triggered by fear, lack of understanding and/or prejudice. Promoting negative images of disability is a form of discrimination because it creates barriers to full citizenship for people who have a disability. Our Disability Awareness Workshop dispels these myths and preconceptions.

DISABILITY AWARENESS WORKSHOP Time taken: 5-6 hours depending on delegate participation Our workshop covers the following topics: · History of Disabilities · Types of Disabilities · Terminology · Training People with Disabilities · Assistive Devices · Legislation o Employment Equity Act o Sectoral Determination No 5 o Technical Assistance Guidelines o Code of Good Practice · Recruiting (Psychometric Assessments)/Employment/Retention · Concepts – o Equality vs Equity o Discrimination o Inherent Requirements of a Job o Reasonable Accommodations o Barriers to Employment · Demonstration of Disability Management Toolkit · Case Studies (Based on client requirements if they have existing staff with disabilities)
Cost: Available on Request - Dependant on number of workshops at one site Travel outside 40 km's Pretoria at AA Rates Venue, refreshments etc supplied by client Maximum 25 delegates per workshop I |
